Canfield Solitaire: how a round works

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Canfield Solitaire. Complete four suited foundations beginning at the dealt base rank and wrapping king to ace. Use the example below to understand a decision. Read the objective before making your first input. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Thirteen reserve cards, four columns, draw-three recyclable stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Build familiarity through play

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Notice the feedback after each input.

What the game asks you to do

Complete four suited foundations beginning at the dealt base rank and wrapping king to ace. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Keep the controls in easy reach.

The order of play

  1. Build tableau runs down in alternating colours, wrapping ace to king. Reserve cards refill empty columns automatically.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Choosing and moving on screen

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

See how the rules apply

With base rank 5, a foundation runs 5 through king, then ace through 4. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Take a moment to compare.

Notice this detail

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules.
